Overview

Package Protect provides shipping-protection, claims and resolution software to ecommerce brands (“merchants”). This policy explains what information we handle when a merchant runs Package Protect and when you interact with this website. For data processed on a merchant's behalf, the merchant is the data controller and Package Protect acts as a processor under that merchant's instructions.

Information we handle

Order and protection data. Order identifiers, protection status, fees collected, shipping and tracking details synced from the merchant's store.
Claim information. Issue type, customer-provided descriptions, the customer email used to verify the order, and any evidence files (for example photos of damaged items) uploaded through the claim portal.
Resolution records. Refund and reship decisions, payouts and the resulting ledger entries.
Website and contact data. Information you submit through the demo or contact form (name, email, company, message) and standard server logs.

How we use it

To operate the protection program: verifying orders, processing claims and recording resolutions.
To provide reporting such as fees collected, loss ratio and net margin.
To respond to demo and contact requests.
To secure, maintain and improve the service.

Storage and security

Evidence files are stored in object storage (Amazon S3) and claim links are tokenized. Access to administrative functions uses API-key authentication, and actions are recorded for audit purposes. We retain data for as long as needed to operate the program for the merchant and to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

Sharing

We share data with subprocessors that help us run the service (for example hosting, object storage and email delivery) and with the merchant's connected commerce platform such as WooCommerce in order to create refunds and reship orders. We do not sell personal information.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because merchants control the data processed through their store, please direct those requests to the merchant you purchased from.
